Womb Healing

We carry inside us a magical portal through which life can enter into this earthly plane – the womb. We mostly take it for granted, but when we really stop to think about it, the mystery of our wombs is simply mind blowing. In this space, new human life manifests and grows. This is where spirit becomes form.

“The womb is the doorway where women have access to spirit at all times.” Tami Kent

Whether or not we choose to or are able to have children, our womb is our creative centre, our powerhouse. If we no longer have our physical womb inside our body, the energetic imprint of the womb remains and we retain access to the creative capacity and the power of our womb.

Our wombs are a microcosm of the earth: The Great Mother. Through our wombs we are deeply connected to the earth. As we tune into and deepen our connection with our womb, we deepen our connection with the earth.

Womb Trauma

This amazing capacity of the womb to carry and nurture our creations means that we carry trauma in our wombs - personal and collective.

This trauma isn’t just our own personal story. We carry it at a societal level and manifest it at an individual level. We carry ancestral trauma down through the generations. The pain in our wombs reflects the desecration of the feminine over thousands of years, the defiling of the female body, the grief at the loss of connection to the true extent of our power, to the truth of who we are.

So many of us experience pain, discomfort or disconnection associated with our womb. This is no accident or coincidence. Neither is it that our wombs are somehow flawed. Our wombs are calling out for our attention. As we reconnect to this core place in our body, we restore our connection with ourselves. We reclaim our power and we give other women permission to do the same. Every healing story is a beacon of hope for other women who have walked a similar path.

Sessions

I offer womb healing sessions specifically tailored to each woman’s needs. I work physically and energetically with the womb or womb space. Sessions involve a detailed discussion of what you are addressing and your history. I usually teach a self-care abdominal massage so that women learn tools to support themselves outside of the sessions. I  work physically and energetically over the sacral, abdominal and pelvic area within boundaries discussed during the initial consultation. I use a combination of techniques on the abdominal area including Mayan abdominal massage, chi-nei tsang (taoist abdominal therapy) and energetic healing practices.

Some of the challenges that my clients come with include:

  • menstrual discomfort or difficulties

  • endomentriosis

  • healing after pregnancy loss or termination

  • fertility challenges

  • fibroids

  • prolapse

  • cancer

  • unexplained pain

  • PCOS

  • challenges around menopause

  • Hysterectomy

Please be advised that some of these challenges can be complex and require a multi-pronged approach, including support from medical professionals. Often the support that I offer provides a vital piece of the jigsaw that is missing from conventional medical therapies.

Abdominal Therapy/ Arvigo®

I am trained in the Arvigo Techniques of Mayan Therapy®.

The foundation of Abdominal Therapy is an external, non-invasive, abdominal massage combined with other supportive natural therapies.

These techniques were brought together by Dr Rosita Arvigo during her lifelong work as a healer and apprentice to the the last great Shaman of Belize, Don Elijio Panti. She combined his teachings, and those of traditional Mayan midwives, with a Western scientific understanding of the body to create The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy®.

The massage itself optimises the position and functioning of the uterus, the bladder, the ovaries and the digestive organs by relaxing and toning internal structures. If the uterus is out of its optimum position, women can experience various symptoms of dis-ease including menstrual pain, infection, lower back pain, fertility issues, painful sex, and various other challenges.

Arvigo® restores the flow of blood, lymph and chi to and from these organs and promotes nervous innovation of these organs. The aim of Arvigo® is really to support the body to maintain its natural, healthy balance.

The techniques are particularly effective for gynaecological problems, digestive problems, fertility and post natal support and menstrual distress.

What happens during a session?

Education, understanding and self-help are particularly important in Arvigo® Therapy An initial session consists of a detailed consultation about various aspects of the clients life and issues. We will spend some time learning self-care massage to be carried out at home in between sessions.

The treatment itself focuses on the upper and lower abdomen. This is usually carried out fully clothed on a mat using oil. The client simply exposes the abdomen and the clothes are protected from the oil with towels and sarongs.

We may also discuss various supporting modalities which may include vaginal steams, wearing of a faja (a traditional lower abdomen supportive wrap), castor oil packs, guided meditations and lifestyle education.

A session takes 2 hours. Depending on the individual case, it is usually recommended to have 5 treatments, one month apart. Some conditions (eg prolapse) may require longer.

I can combine Arvigo® Therapy with the other modalities that I offer, depending on the wishes of the client and the condition being addressed.

Can I come to an appointment if I am menstruating?

I do not carry out the lower abdominal massage whilst women are menstruating.

For women trying to conceive I recommend making an appointment between days 4 – 13 of your cycle (i.e. not after ovulation or when you are menstruating), and for women with any other issues I recommend making an appointment between days 4 – 27 of your cycle (i.e. not when you are menstruating).

Can I receive a treatment if I am pregnant?

During the 2nd and 3rd trimester, Arvigo® techniques can be applied in order to encourage optimal uterine position, strengthen the uterus, facilitate nerve and lymph system function, promote blood supply to provide oxygen and nutrients and to remove toxins. Uterine ligaments and nourished and work to support their role in uterine positioning.

Clients who receive regular Arvigo® sessions and apply the self-care experience more efficient labour and birth with less need for surgical interventions.

The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® are offered as a supportive modality to enhance health and wellness, and are not meant as an entire approach to health care. If you have any serious medical conditions, please consult your health care provider first.

please note - i am currently offering womb awakening sessions as part of a 4-month journey
